Mark Pysyk Stays in Buffalo for Two More Years

The Buffalo Sabres announced on Tuesday evening that they have signed defenseman Mark Pysyk to a two-year, one-way contract extension worth $2.25 million, according to the CBC’s Tim Wharnsby.

Pysyk, a 2010 1st round pick (23rd overall), is a veteran of 70 NHL games. Last season he bounced between the AHL and NHL regularly, until he collapsed during a pickup basketball game and wasn’t able to return for the rest of the season.

He finished the year having played seven games with Buffalo and 54 games with the Rochester Americans, over which he scored three goals and 14 assists.

It appears, with a $260K raise and a one-way deal, that the team expects Pysyk to begin to contribute regularly to the NHL squad.
