3 Bruins To Watch At Development Camp
The Baby Bruins kicked off action, beginning the week long skate known as development camp. The three first round picks will be in action, along with countless others hoping to impress the coaching staff. Last year, David Pastrnak stole the show, leaving Boston media drooling at his silky smooth skills and clamoring for him to make the team right out of training camp. Who will steal the show this year?
Here are three prospects that could, *ahem*, bear watching:
Zane McIntyre, Goaltender
The former University of North Dakota goaltender was a Hobey Baker finalist and lead the Fighting Sioux to the Frozen Four. With a 29-10-3 record, in addition to a 2.05 save percentage and .929 save percentage, McIntyre cemented himself as one of the best goaltenders in college hockey. He is the university’s all-time leader in save percentage. In competition for the backup role in Boston, a strong camp could only raise McIntyre’s stock.
Ryan Donato, Forward
After lighting up the scoreboard again at Dexter Academy, the 2014 second round pick will continue to mature at Harvard. Not only can he juke defenders right out of their jockstraps, Donato constantly is thinking a play ahead of everyone else. Armed with a vast amount of moves, Donato’s potential and offensive prowess are almost unmatched. A strong development camp will only raise his confidence as he heads to Harvard and excite Bruins fans for the future.
Zachary Senyshyn, Forward
The last of three consecutive first round picks, Senyshyn will be under the microscope this week. Heralded as a second round talent by the majority of draft gurus, the Bruins “reached” to select him with the 15 overall pick. A fourth liner for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL, Senyshyn still notched 26 goals and displayed outstanding offensive creativity and instincts. A slick stride empowers him to speed by opponents. A north-south game and ability to grow into a power forward suit Senyshyn well. Can he live up to the hype of being a first round pick, especially the one that the Bruins received in the infamous Dougie Hamilton deal? We’ll soon see.
