Canucks re-sign Yannick Weber
The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed restricted free agent defenceman Yannick Weber to a one-year, $1.5-Million deal, according to TSN’s Darren Dreger.
Weber signs 1 yr, 1.5M. Canucks didn't give him a QO to take out arb case that was worth 2.5 range. Will go back to improve case next yr.

Weber was an offensive force on the back end for the Canucks last season, scoring a career high 21 points in 65 games, including 11 goals to lead the Vancouver blue line. The 26-year-old, who is one year away from unrestricted free agency, did not receive a qualifying offer, which would given him the right to take the Canucks to arbitration.

Weber, who made $850,000 last season, provides great value for an inexpensive price in the Canucks top four. He played big minutes and on the powerplay, with five of his goals – nearly half his total – coming with the man advantage. The deal fills a big hole on Vancouver’s defence, after the team traded Kevin Bieksa on Tuesday to the Ducks for a 2016 second-round draft pick. With Weber signed, the Canucks have five defencemen locked up for next year.
