Lightning announce Brian Engblom as new Color Analyst
The Tampa Bay Lightning and their regional television partner, Sun Sports Florida, have named former NBC and NBCSN NHL Analyst, Brian Engblom as their new color analyst for the upcoming 2015-16 season.
Engblom replaces Bobby “The Chief” Taylor who moves to the studio for pre-game, post-game and intermission analysis. Taylor joins former Lightning captain, Dave Andreychuk in the studio. Both Taylor and Andreychuk will be new in the studio as they replace Sun Sports reporter, Paul Kennedy and former Lightning forward, Chris Dingman.
Engblom will join play-by-play announcer, Rick Peckham who is about to begin his 21st season behind the microphone for the Lightning. The Engblom hiring gives the organization a familiar national face and voice as he has been seen as one of the “inside the glass” reporters for NBC and NBCSN over the last few years.
In the press conference this morning, Englbom said “I am thrilled to be going to such a terrific organization on and off the ice, I’ve missed working for a team and that affiliation is something that I really haven’t had in my 20 years broadcasting at the national level. Lightning fans are fortunate to have a young, terrific team. The next step is the most fun, and I’m excited to be a part of it.” This is quite a boon for the Lightning organization to land a well-known presence as a part of their announcing crew.
