Previewing The Defending Champion Chicago Blackhawks Hot Ticket Market For 2015-16 Season
The Chicago Blackhawks are enjoying the offseason with Lord Stanley’s Cup, as they defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games to reach the NHL’s peak. The Blackhawks are getting used to it up there, as it was the franchise’s third Stanley Cup championship trophy over the past six seasons.
But as with most dynasties, there comes a turning point where a transition is necessary. After price tags for certain players rise with the added “Stanley Cup champion” line added under their career experience, it’s becomes more difficult to keep a championship roster together for more than a few seasons.
Brandon Saad and Patrick Sharp are the two culprits this time around, as both players—who were essential parts to the championship process—were shipped to the Columbus Blue Jackets and Dallas Stars, respectively.
Even with the transactions, fans are still inclined to pack the United Center throughout the entire season. With next year’s NHL schedule released and tickets going on sale, below we take a look at some of the most expensive Blackhawks tickets on the secondary market, according to Ticketmaster.com.
Many of these games still have limited primary inventory remaining on the site, and those that do not still have secondary inventory available through Ticketmaster’s NHL Exchange.
3/2/2016 | Detroit Red Wings vs. Chicago Blackhawks | Joe Louis Arena | Average Price: $991.34 | Get-in Price: $53
10/7/2015 | Chicago Blackhawks vs. New York Rangers | United Center | Average Price: $735.34 | Get-in Price: $212
4/3/2016 | Chicago Blackhawks vs. Boston Bruins | United Center | Average Price: $519.13 | Get-in Price: $107
Least Expensive: 1/26/2016 | Carolina Panthers vs. Chicago Blackhawks | PNC Arena | Average Price: $125.32 | Get-in Price: $34
The most expensive game on the secondary market is against the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena in
March. With all of these high average ticket prices this early on in the process, the price when approaching game day will wind up closer to the get-in price of $53.
The second-most expensive game — an early-season clash opposite the New York Rangers — is the most expensive Blackhawks home game at the United Center. It’s especially intriguing considering a lot of fans were expecting this matchup to be featured in last year’s Stanley Cup Finals, before the Rangers let Game 7 slip away against the Lightning in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Unsurprisingly, another home game against a storied NHL franchise clocks in as the third-most expensive game on the secondary market. The Boston Bruins missed out on the postseason last season but are still a perennial contender year-in and year-out, and are showing their brand power on this list. Even after a down season, the B’s are still a much-desired opponent when fans are scouring for tickets.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, a road game against the Carolina Hurricanes is currently the least-expensive Blackhawks tickets on the secondary market, having an average price of $125.32 and a get-in price of $34.
It is clear that the demand for the defending champs is sky-high, as primary tickets are flying off the shelves, and secondary prices have risen as a result. The Blackhawks are the NHL’s hottest team on the ice, and arguably, within the ticket market as well.
