Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin is expected to be healthy enough to suit up for Team Canada in September’s World Cup of Hockey, according to Stars general manager Jim Nill.

Seguin, 24, played in just one of Dallas’ 13 playoff games this past season due to a calf injury, but with a summer focussed on recovery, he will be a big asset for Team Canada.
“He has been skating and seems to be having no troubles,” Nill said, according to Mike Heika of the Dallas News. “There’s a little bit of stiffness there still, but he feels comfortable and should be ready for the World Cup.”
He finished the 2015-16 season with 73 points in 72 games. Since joining the Stars via trade during the summer of 2013, he has tallied 234 points in 223 games and is a plus-17.
The Boston Bruins drafted Seguin with the second overall pick in the first round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He was dealt to the Stars in a blockbuster trade involving the likes of Loui Eriksson and Rich Peverley.
Tyler Seguin’s Stars teammate and future teammate on Team Canada in the World Cup, Jamie Benn, was inked to an eight-year contract this week, a deal with an average annual value of $9.5 million. Seguin has three years remaining on his current contract, one which holds an AAV of $5.75 million per year.
