2015 NHL Draft: Ottawa Senators Select Thomas Chabot

The Ottawa Senators have selected Thomas Chabot with the 18th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

Out of the QMJHL, Chabot is a nice pick for Ottawa at 18th overall. Chabot offers a lot of versatility as a future scorer on a young Sens roster. He posted 41 points in 66 games with Saint John Sea Dogs, while accumulating 62 penalty minutes, and a plus six rating. The plus six rating is a huge boost from the previous season as Chabot improved all the way from a minus 29. Chabot isn’t a player that is going to come right into the NHL, but he’s a guy who is getting better every season, and is a solid pick for the Sens.

This is only the first of the Sens two first round picks this year as earlier in the day they acquired the 21st overall pick from the Buffalo Sabers in exchange for Robin Lehner and David Legwand.

Ottawa also has two picks in the second round. They have the 42nd overall pick because of the Jason Spezza trade last season, and they also have their own pick at 48th overall.

The Ottawa Senators will close out their draft by selecting 108th overall in the fourth round, 148th overall in the fifth round, and 198th in the seventh round.
