Arizona Coyotes Obtain Goaltender Anders Lindback

The Arizona Coyotes have signed Anders Lindback to a one-year deal.

Lindback has made his way around the league, playing for four different teams over his six-year career. Now he finds himself with the organization that held the third-overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Arizona has struggled in every department and is hoping to turn things around next season.

The Swede has only played in 111 games during his time in the NHL and has registered mediocre numbers at best. Holding a .905 SV% that is well below the league average, Lindback is not on his way to breaking out with the Coyotes. However, he is capable of starting a few games and maybe getting his club a couple of wins as well.

The netminder has never started more than 25 games in a single season. However, Mike Smith struggled last season and the Arizona franchise may entertain giving more playing time to someone who is considered a secondary goaltender.

His 2.83 GAA is not fantastic by any means, but he can play in goal and give his team some sort of chance to earn two points. But playing for a struggling Coyotes team will not help inflate his statistics.

The goaltending situation in the desert is grim, but anything can happen in the National Hockey League; just look at Devan Dubnyk. The odds are against them, but nothing is certain in this unpredictable game.
