Taylor Beck Signs 1-Year Pact With Leafs

Former Nashville Predators forward Taylor Beck has signed a one-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The deal is worth a reported $875K.

Beck was acquired by the Maple Leafs in a trade on Sunday that sent 22-year-old Jamie Devane to Nashville. Devane made his NHL debut last season, playing two games for Toronto.

The 24-year-old Beck will still be a restricted free agent when his contract expires and gives the Maples yet another player on a one-year deal who they can choose to re-sign or deal at the trade deadline. This summer the team has signed Nazem Kadri, Beck, Shawn Matthias, P.A. Parenteau, Mark Arcobello, Richard Panik, Martin Marincin, and TJ Brennan to one-year contracts. The team is turning cap space into potential draft picks at an incredible pace.

Beck played his first full NHL season last year, scoring eight goals and eight assists in 62 games for Nashville.

Beck showed promise with a solid 1.2 P/60 while absorbing rough zone starts — -28.5% ZSO%Rel — in limited ice time. Those rough zone starts may account for a portion of his -7.3% CF%Rel.
