Pateryn Will Start Season In The AHL
Montreal Canadiens defenseman Greg Pateryn will be starting the 2015-16 season with the St. John’s IceCaps.
The 25 year old who recently agreed to a one-way, two year contract which will pay him $750K for 2016-17 and $850K for 2017-18 will be placed in the starting line up in the fall, despite wanting to land a regular position with the Habs. According to TVA Sports, Pateryn said in a recent interview on the Habs website that his “goal is to stay in Montreal throughout the season.”
In the 17 games played with the Montreal Canadiens during the 2014-15 season, the 25 year old averaged 12:39 of ice time per game, dishing out 48 hits and during his 53 AHL games with the Hamilton Bulldogs, Pateryn grabbed three goals and 12 assists as well as racking up 56 penalty points.
