Zenon Konopka Calls for Mike Yeo to Be Fired
Former Minnesota Wild enforcer Zenon Konopka took to Twitter on Wednesday to call for Wild head coach Mike Yeo to be fired.
In the tweets, which Konopka hashtagged #YeohastoGo and #YeomustGo he says he thinks the Wild could be Stanley cup contenders and that leaving Yeo as coach isn’t fair to fans.
In one of the tweets Konopka posts a photo of his locally famous rabbit Hoppy holding a “Yeo Must Go” sign.
At Wednesday media time, coach Yeo was asked about the offending tweets. He responded, “I really don’t care what he thinks. I was really disappointed to see Hoppy holding that sign.”
While Hoppy and his or her friend may be acting a little belligerently, they’re far from the only mammals calling for someone’s head on a pike in the Twin Cities.
With an overtime loss to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday, the Wild stretched their losing streak to five games and have won just once in their last 12.
Konopka played for Yeo in the 2012-13 season and for part of the 2013-14 season before he was traded to Buffalo. He has not played any NHL games since that season.
I'm not saying Mike Yeo is a bad coach but change is due in Minny #YeomustGo pic.twitter.com/1GsdYh9lvt

Yeo on pressure on him: "That’s the life of a coach in the NHL. I’ve got no problem with that. I deal with that just fine." #mnwild
