Anaheim Ducks Ink Korbinian Holzer to One-Year Deal

On Tuesday, the Anaheim Ducks signed defenseman Korbinian Holzer to a one-year contract. Per team policy, the terms of the contract were not disclosed. The club shared the news on its Twitter account shortly after it became public:

 

Holzer, 28, appeared in 29 games for the Ducks during the 2015-16 regular season, tallying three assists. Originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs 111th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Holzer was acquired by the Ducks on March 2, 2015, as part of a deal that sent Eric Brewer and a 5th-round pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft to the Maple Leafs.

After being drafted by the Maple Leafs in 2006, the 6’3″, 215-pound defenseman played in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) as a member of the DEG Metro Stars for three seasons before splitting time between the Toronto Marlies (AHL) and Maple Leafs the next five seasons.

Before arriving in Anaheim, the German defenseman appeared in 58 games for the Maple Leafs, compiling 2 goals, 7 assists and 55 penalty minutes.
