The deal will pay him $600,000 in the NHL and $75,000 in the AHL during the 2016-17 season. He was the last of L.A.’s remaining RFAs.
Crescenzi was acquired by the Kings in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs in January of 2014. It was a one-for-one trade that sent Brandon Kozun to the Leafs.
Andrew Crescenzi set career-highs in assists and points last season with the AHL’s Ontario Reign. He finished the year with 16 assists and 21 points in 67 games. He had three points in 12 playoff games.
The former undrafted free agent has appeared in 184 AHL games dating back to his rookie season in 2012-13, amassing 15 goals and 44 points in the process. He was a member of Manchester’s AHL Championship winning team in 2014-15.
Crescenzi, 23, played three seasons of junior hockey with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League. In 175 games, he tallied 82 points with 190 penalty minutes and a minus-10 rating.
The 6-foot-4, 198-pound centerman uses his body to his advantage and plays with an edge. He’s a reliable two-way player who can win faceoffs and contribute sporadically on offense.
Crescenzi will likely start the year with the Ontario Reign in the AHL. He has yet to make his NHL debut.
