Peter Mueller Signs With Malmö
Former first round pick, 8th overall in 2006, Peter Mueller has signed with the Malmö Redhawks in the SHL, the team announced on Wednesday.
The Bloomington, MN-native has spent the last two seasons playing for the Kloten Flyers in the NLA. In his first year there he had lot of success, scoring 24 goals and 22 assists through 49 games and joined the U.S. Team for the 2014 World Championships at the conclusion of the season.
Last season he scored just 10 goals and seven assists through 34 games for Kloten.
Mueller had a strange NHL career, scoring a very impressive 22 goals and 32 assists in his rookie season with the Arizona Coyotes. The following season he scored 13 goals and 23 assists for the ‘Yotes, and his production continued to sink until the 2012-13 season when he posted eight goals and nine assists through 43 games for the Florida Panthers.
That was his last season in the NHL before heading to the NLA, despite signing a one-year deal with the St. Louis Blues in the summer of 2014. It was just days before the open of the regular season when Mueller and the Blues decided to mutually terminate his contract, sending him back to Kloten for a second season.
