Galchenyuk, injured Sunday against the Los Angeles Kings after a knee on knee collision with Anze Kopitar, leads the Canadiens with 23 points in 25 games. He is a restricted free agent at season’s end.
Desharnais, injured Tuesday in Montreal’s overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues, replaced Galchenyuk on the top line before being sidelined with a knee injury of his own. Jay Bouwmeester of the Blues took Desharnais into the boards, ending with Desharnais’ knee colliding with the wall. Desharnais has nine points in 23 games, and is an unrestricted free agent at season’s end.
