Habs – Bruins Pregame News and Notes

Things are going pretty well for the Habs these days.

The Montreal Canadiens returned home from an abysmal Western road trip and put together two convincing wins; a 5-2 victory over the New Jersey Devils, and a 10-1 rout against the Colorado Avalanche. The Habs share the top spot in the league with the New York Rangers (41 points) with two games at hand on the Blueshirts.

Tonight, Montreal continues their home stand as they take on the rival Boston Bruins. Boston, occupying the third spot in the Atlantic division (15-12-2), enters the Bell Centre on a three game losing streak. This is the third game of the season between Boston and Montreal, with the Habs sinking the Bruins in the first two games.

Bruins Lineup Notes:

Claude Julien has put the Bruins’ lines in the blender, as Boston attempts to avoid stretching their losing streak to four games.

David Backes moves to the top line in favor of David Pastrnak, as the Bruins attempt to shake things up. Frank Vatrano, who practiced with the Bruins on Sunday, will not travel with the team to Montreal or Pittsburgh as he heals from a foot injury. Danton Heinen skated as the extra.

The defense for the Bruins stayed the same, according to CNNNE.com:

Chara – Carlo

Krug – McQuaid

Morrow – K. Miller

No goaltending announcement has been made, but expect Tuukka Rask to get the start for Boston.

Habs Lineup Notes:

As for the Canadiens, if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it. Montreal will ice the same team that defeated the Devils and the Avalanche. Michael McCarron and Mark Barberio, the most recent call-ups from St. John’s, will be scratched.

Here are the lines:

And the defensive pairings:

And as always:

Enjoy the game!
