Toronto Maple Leafs Sign Mark Arcobello
Mark Arcobello continues his mission to play for as many teams as he can in the shortest time possible. The 26-year old forward has signed a one-year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs worth $1.1 milion.

Arcobello couldn’t find a home last season in the NHL, playing for four different teams. He started off with the Edmonton Oilers, the team he had played the previous season with. In December, he was traded to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Derek Roy. After only four games with the Predators, he was claimed off of waivers by the Pittsburgh Penguins. His stint in Pittsburgh wasn’t much longer as he was put on waivers again after only 10 games with the team. He was claimed by the Arizona Coyotes and he finished off the season with them. He became only the third player in NHL history to play for four teams in one season.
The Leafs now become Arcobello’s fifth team in just over a season and a half of NHL hockey. He did pretty well offensively in Arizona, scoring nine goals and amassing 16 points in 27 games with the team. With the loss of Phil Kessel’s offense, the Leafs will need other players to entertain the fans with at least some goals. The Leafs may be rebuilding, but the fans attending the Leafs games next season at least want to see some excitement.
You have to consider another thing. Arcobello might just be a candidate to be moved at the trade deadline. The Leafs are doing well with adding one-year contracts on the cheap that give them options in the future in regards to making moves. Those types of deals are much easier to trade than, let’s say, a deal that has seven years left on it.
