Lightning Sign Veteran Jeff Tambellini

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed journeyman forward Jeff Tambellini to a one-year, two-way deal, according to the team.

The 31-year-old forward is a veteran of 242 NHL contests, but last played in the NHL during the 2010-11 season for the Vancouver Canucks. He’s also spent time with the Los Angeles Kings and New York Islanders.

For the last five seasons, Tambellini has played in Europe, diving his time between the Swiss NLA and in Sweden’s SHL. He most recently split time between Gottéron in the NLA and the Växjö Lakers of the SHL this past season.

In his 242 NHL games he scored 27 goals and 36 assists, though always looked like his upside was higher with the way he was consistently tearing it up in the AHL. In his career he has played 176 AHL games and scored 101 goals and 100 assists. He should add solid depth scoring and a veteran presence with the Syracuse Crunch.
