Islanders Re-Sign RFA Kevin Poulin
Staple reports that the terms of the contract are the same that Poulin played under last year, $600,000 at the NHL level and $275,000 in the AHL. Poulin will still be a restricted free agent at the end of the contract.
The 25-year-old netminder was drafted by the Islanders in the 5th round of the 2008 draft and played a single game in the NHL last season. He’s made at least a token appearance in each of the last five seasons, playing a career-high 28 games for the Isles in the 2013-14 season, when he posted an 11-16-1 record with a .891 all situation save percentage.
In the AHL he played 45 games last year, with a .912 save percentage.
Poulin will likely remain the third string for the Islanders, after the team signed unrestricted free agent Thomas Greiss to a two-year contract with an AAV of $1.5 million.
