Minnesota Wild Re-Sign Brett Bulmer

The Minnesota Wild has locked in the last of their outstanding free agents that they intend to sign, by putting forward Brett Bulmer to a one-year, two-way contract on Sunday.

Bulmer spent all of last season playing with the Iowa Wild in the AHL, where he put up four goals and 12 assists through 53 games in a campaign where not many players looked great. Iowa finished dead last in the AHL for the second season in a row.

Bulmer looked to be near the top of the pecking order for call-ups for quite a while, but has fallen down the depth chart in recent seasons, going from five games in the 2013-14 season to none last year.

Injuries have played a big part in keeping him from turning into the physical player with scoring upside the Wild hoped he’d be when they drafted him in the 2nd round (39th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Thus far the 23-year-old winger has played 14 NHL games in his career, scoring no goals and three assists. In the AHL the 6-foot-4 Bulmer has had a little more success, grabbing 11 goals and eight assists through 43 games in the 2013-14 inaugural campaign for the Iowa Wild.
