Ducks Sign Stefan Noesen to One Year Extension: Report

The Anaheim Ducks have extended restricted free agent forward Stefan Noesen for one year, according to reports.

The 23-year-old’s contract is a two-way deal that will pay him $600,000 in the NHL and $70,000 in the AHL with $95,000 guaranteed.

Noesen skated in one game with the Ducks this past season and was left off the scoresheet. He played in 65 games with the San Diego Gulls of the AHL, tallying 10 goals and 32 points with a minus-five rating.

Since turning pro in 2013, the Plano, Texas native has appeared in 94 AHL games, accumulating 48 points. In two career NHL games, he has yet to net his first point.

The Ottawa Senators drafted Noesen with the 21st overall pick in the first round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. The Sens packaged him in a deal with the Ducks that brought Bobby Ryan to the club in July of 2013.

Stefan Noesen played his junior hockey with the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League. Over four seasons, he skated in 215 games, amassing 100 goals and 220 points with a plus-40 rating. He finished the 2011-12 regular season with 38 goals and 82 points in 63 games. He then showed out in the playoffs, picking up 15 points in just seven games with the Whalers.

Thus far, Noesen has been largely underwhelming as a professional hockey player. His offensive production in junior has yet to translate to the NHL or AHL, but after a solid playoff performance in 2015-16, featuring seven points in nine games with the Gulls, he will look to turn things around on a two-way deal in 2016-17.
