Habs Prospect Nikita Scherbak scores 2 goals in WHL playoffs: Announcer Thrilled
Nikita Scherbak continues to excite fans across Canada with his exciting, high-speed style and big play ability, but I don’t know if anyone gets as excited as this announcer…give it a listen when Scherbak gives Everett the lead with 35 seconds left in the second period…
Scherbak made it 3-2 with that goal, but Portland tied it midway through the third and offensive dynamo (Blue Jackets) Oliver Bjorkstrand won it for the Winterhawks just 29 seconds into the second overtime.
Scouting Report:
Scherbak has fan favourite written all over him. He has the size, speed, and attitude necessary to succeed at the NHL level and won’t need much time in the AHL as he already plays a North American game. He scores 82 points in 65 WHL games this year, while turning last year’s minus-6 (with Saskatoon, the worst team in the league) into a plus-33 with Everett. He still has developing to do defensively and on the details of his game, but his natural playmaking ability will earn him a scoring role with the Canadiens sooner than later. Fans dreams of seeing him next to Galchenyuk might not be too far away.
